How long does it take for a newborns true eye color to develop?

My daughter is 4 weeks old, and we are all so anxious to see if she'll have daddy's brown eyes or Mommy's blue eyes! How long until you can tell? How long does it take for a newborns true eye color to develop?
I have heard it taking as long as a year. But I think on average it changes sooner, by 6 months.

My son had these grogeous blue eyes for about 3 months. Then they were a blue, gray, green.

Then they were a grey, green.

Now they're hazel and GORGEOUS.

They have a really nice orange/green color.

His father and I have similar eyes with brown and geen. But my son took my eye shape, eye lashes and eye color much more.

Now he's almost 5 months old and I am certain that they will stay that color. How long does it take for a newborns true eye color to develop?
Most of the time, the real color comes in around 6 months. However, it can take a year. My daughter is 15 months old and we're still wondering what color her eyes are going to be...they change day to day.
They usually say you can be sure at 6 months. But you'll see the eyes trending more one way than the other sooner than that.
6 months.

Don't worrie, she's just a new born. It's not even ben 1 month yet since you have had her.

They'll turn in about 6 months. :)
They usually start changing to their true colour around 6 months. Then they tend to finish changing and completely settle anywhere between 1-3 years old.

But most times, you can get a general idea around 6 months of what colour a babys eyes will be.
at 11 weeks, we can already tell our daughter will have blue eyes like her daddy. i have hazel and there is no hint of green coming through. i have a friend who has a girl 2 weeks older than mine and her daughter is also already showing signs that she is going to have brown eyes.
